MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — There is an active investigation after two people were found dead in an Orono home near Lake Minnetonka Wednesday morning. According to sources, the deceased are prominent businessman Irwin Jacobs and his wife Alexandra Jacobs.
Hennepin County officials say the bodies were found in bed by Orono officers at a home on 1700 block of Shoreline Drive in Orono. The Hennepin County Dispatch received a call at 8:31 a.m.
Officials say a handgun was also recovered at the scene.
The Jacobs family issued a statement Wednesday evening:
Our family is shocked and devastated by the death of our parents, Irwin and Alexandra Jacobs. We are heartbroken by this loss, and we ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.
Orono police say there is no risk to the public. This is an active investigation and crime scene investigators are in processing the scene.
Hennepin County property records show the home is owned by prominent businessman Irwin Jacobs. Sources tell WCCO the deceased was prominent businessman Irwin Jacobs and his wife, Alexandra Jacobs.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identities of the deceased and their cause of death.
